Apollon Town Meeting Nov. 22nd

General Introduction

In this town meeting, our panel moderated by Rachel Mcadams who is a cabin attendant discussed whether Apollon should associate with other country.
As a background to this discussion, Apollon associates with no country but Apollon has a program that all high school students can have overseas training.

The Panelists Today Were:

Emily Carter: a 22-year-old female photographer who agree to associate with other country because she thought we would be able to import something at  cheaper price and export more our products. She also thought that association with other country would promote our economy and their culture would have a good influence on us. She suggested that Apollon should associate with Japan. She also stated some reasons. They are as follow: Japan had a lot of machine and machine enabled to make more products, so we should learn them. Japan doesn't have a tropical season, so there is a great demand for tropical fruits. Japanese like resort place such as Hawaii, so they must get interest in Apollon.

Charlotte: a 37-year-old female chef who agree to associate with other country because she thought associating with other country would increase number of tourists and enable for young people to study abroad easily. She also said we could deal with trash problem by making a rule that people who do illegal dumping should pay penalty. She suggested to associate with Japan because Japan has beautiful nature and people in Japan must be interested in tropical resort such as Apollon.

Anne Watson: a 28-year-old female interior coordinator who agreed to associate with other country, because she thought associating with other country would develop our trade and tourism, and would give positive effect for education.  She suggested to associate with France. She explained some good points to do so. They are as follow: France is famous for tourism, so we can learn it. France has technical knowledge for agriculture, so we can learn and develop our agriculture. France is surrounded with other countries and France is a major country, so Apollon can be known to other country by doing so.

Eddie Kaiser: a 51-year-old male civil servant who disagreed to associate with other country because he felt it isn't needed. He asked some questions. For example, what do we deal with trash problem caused by increasing tourists? or can we get more profits to associate with other country? He finally changed with his mind and agreed to associate with Japan because Japan had a great technology, and his son was in Japan so he told him Japan was so good.

Michael Scofield: a 30-year-old male building engineer who disagreed to associate with other country because he also felt it wasn't needed. He changed his mind finally and he agreed to associate with France. He was concerned that we could use the technology because Japan's climate was really different from Apollon and the grains were also different.

Consensus

Unfortunately, the panel was not able to move toward a consensus.

Observation and Opinions

At first, the meeting seemed to be active and move toward consensus, however, they overlooked a program for high school students and they couldn't explain the good points to associate with other country. The panelists exchanged their opinion well, but it may be unable to say that the meeting is effective. Diplomacy is really important for nation, but it is really difficult and we should research many things.
